Day 36| Florida Trail 20 miles 2/4/18
Today is my last day on the Florida Trail. I bet some of you are like OMG what is he doing. The next few paragraphs will tell you why!!
I got to mile 542, pretty much halfway on the trail. Did this in under a month and I feel so accomplished with this goal. Why stop though, well I want to save this trail for another time, I want to come back and see this beautiful trail again. Of course I can come back anytime but I want to save it for the future, I have so many other trails to walk and see and this is one I wanna see again, finishing the thru!
Post-poning the hike is something I’ve been thinking about for the past couple days for sure, I didn’t want to do something I would be regretting and I don’t regret it one bit. Coming back makes me feel really happy and shows me it’s not just about the thru. It’s about the experience you have and I tell you what I had one hell of an experience.
This trail showed me what I want to do for my career, what I want to try and change, what I want to leave behind, and I can’t do that walking all the time, I’m gonna have to be working and changing small things to get to a bigger picture.
I’ve got my big AT section hike coming up in April and I’m excited for that, and also my hike on the Long Trail again I gotta finish that one as well, going for the whole thing though and as fast as I can. I think I can do it in roughly a week and 6 days so let’s start training some more.
Right now I have some more important things to think about unfortunately, I would love to just think about walking but in reality I can’t do that. I’ve got my fiance and future to think about. My next goal is getting us a house and starting our lives together, I gotta worry about this wedding too!! I’m excited to finally have time to help and continue planning with her.
