Day 16 | Florida Trail 11 miles 1/15/18
I hiked about 4 hours today getting to my pick up point for meeting up with my family.
This walk I had today was bittersweet. As I’m waiting on my family to pick me up I think about all the trail I’m missing to be with them. The things that I might see, hear or even touch. I tell myself the trail will be there though!
But here’s the thing, this happens everywhere we look, whether it’s in the real world or on trail or whatever you choose to do. Leaving a mark I would say, making that footprint in the mud.
As soon I got in the car, my body hit the seat and it felt so good, it’s been about 2 weeks since a really long car ride and I enjoyed it, talking with my step brothers and their mom. Talking about what I’ve seen and how trail life has been. What it means to just walk to the next location.
Like I always say the small things are what we have to see to really want to be there in the moment!! Ronan my youngest step bro lost his first tooth today and he wanted me to be the one to pull it what a great way to see a young man grow. We had dinner at Texas Roadhouse after their karate classes and had a blast catching up and munching down on some good food.
With all this in mind I’m glad to be with some family for a bit while I rest my feet, plan my next few resupplys, get my next set of maps for my upcoming sections and everything else I gotta do!!
I did the section coming up last year and it did not disappoint! I’m excited to get out there and walk again. With just two weeks of walking I can say it’s calling me like a cat to a mouse already!
Three days to relax is going to be rough with the trail calling me, but let’s enjoy it and be with the family.
