Day 5 | Florida Trail 18 miles 1/4/18
With a 630 wake up I’ve been mind blown by the fact that we have frost on our tarps right now. We are in Florida what is going on!!
As I get up I just think about the warm cup of coffee I am about to make and how warm it will feel going down my throat! The heat will run body for at least a few hours enough to get warm and fight the cold!
Throughout the day we saw many birds one alligator and many fish hitting the top of the water, but then you have this long dirt road funnelling continuously and forever straight. I enjoyed the walk, I saw a lot of Indian farm land, and beautiful birds diving into the water, but dam do I miss the mountains, switchbacks, leafy trail. This is one hell of a walk!
It’s in the 30s right now and we are freezing. Dinner was pretty satisfying and made the day completely worth it. My feet are gone though, swollen like peaches haha.
Only two more really hard days and I got new shoes for swelling and my chest peice waiting as well. Ready to have a proper piece for gear.
Now to dream about it, I got ZZZZs to catch good night!
